Björn Theis is the Head of Strategic Foresight at Evonik’s innovation unit, Creavis. Armed with a background in cultural anthropology, philosophy, and English from the University of Cologne, he has been leading foresight and innovation projects at Evonik since 2014.

Björn founded the Conjectural Futures Network, teaches futures research at universities, and advises on national foresight efforts via Germany's Future Circle at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. At Creavis, he’s known for identifying “future shadows”—those early signals cast by big bets today—and translating them into robust scenario strategies for long-term success.

His work includes leading initiatives like Sustainable Food Futures 2040, designing scenarios that anticipate change and guide meaningful innovation across sectors. Whether exploring tech futures, sustainability, or societal shifts, Björn blends foresight, anthropology, and strategic storytelling to help teams see tomorrow more clearly—and act today.
